School's out! Our last day of school was on Thursday, May 24th. Technically, our last day with students was on Wednesday. Thursday was our clean up day. It is also our Turn-Around Day. Some of you may be wondering, "What the heck is Turn-Around Day!?" It is a day where the students and parents come to pick up report cards and say good-bye.
We were able to leave on Thursday at 11:30. It was such a huge relief to be done with my second year of teaching. I have to say it was a great year. I had some awesome students. Although, they were a very talkative group.
I then decided to take a break from everything school related for a week, or so. I took a trip to Las Cruces, NM. Did some shopping and eating at some of my favorite restaurants. I lived in Las Cruces last year and commuted to Roswell every week. I decided to move to Las Cruces before getting my current job in Roswell. My parents live in Roswell and I lived there during the week and then drove the 3 hours to Las Cruces to my apartment I shared with a friend. It was a very hectic experience. I love Las Cruces! I tried to get a job in Las Cruces but they were not hiring many teachers.
I'm glad I have decided to stay here in Roswell, though. I love my first grade crew of teachers. We all get along so well. Sorry, I'm totally off topic. LOL
Anyway, I decided to take a break from anything school related. I am now getting anxious about trying to prepare for next year. As a grade level, we have decided to implement Daily 5 and Daily Cafe. I need to get those books finished so I know where I need to get started.
I've read a few chapters in the Daily Cafe and I am so excited about getting it started. First off, it all has to do with organizing data into a binder (Pensieve). I love binders!!! I'm also looking to reorganize my data notebook. I'm thinking of breaking it down into 2 different binders. One for math and one for reading.
I will try to keep you all updated on my progress.
I'm going to watch some Friends for a bit and have a glass of wine.
Tell next time!
