The One With A Break

School's out! Our last day of school was on Thursday, May 24th. Technically, our last day with students was on Wednesday. Thursday was our clean up day. It is also our Turn-Around Day. Some of you may be wondering, "What the heck is Turn-Around Day!?" It is a day where the students and parents come to pick up report cards and say good-bye.

We were able to leave on Thursday at 11:30. It was such a huge relief to be done with my second year of teaching. I have to say it was a great year. I had some awesome students. Although, they were a very talkative group.

I then decided to take a break from everything school related for a week, or so. I took a trip to Las Cruces, NM. Did some shopping and eating at some of my favorite restaurants. I lived in Las Cruces last year and commuted to Roswell every week. I decided to move to Las Cruces before getting my current job in Roswell. My parents live in Roswell and I lived there during the week and then drove the 3 hours to Las Cruces to my apartment I shared with a friend. It was a very hectic experience. I love Las Cruces! I tried to get a job in Las Cruces but they were not hiring many teachers. I'm glad I have decided to stay here in Roswell, though. I love my first grade crew of teachers. We all get along so well.  Sorry, I'm totally off topic. LOL

Anyway, I decided to take a break from anything school related. I am now getting anxious about trying to prepare for next year. As a grade level, we have decided to implement Daily 5 and Daily Cafe. I need to get those books finished so I know where I need to get started. I've read a few chapters in the Daily Cafe and I am so excited about getting it started. First off, it all has to do with organizing data into a binder (Pensieve). I love binders!!! I'm also looking to reorganize my data notebook. I'm thinking of breaking it down into 2 different binders. One for math and one for reading.

I will try to keep you all updated on my progress.

I'm going to watch some Friends for a bit and have a glass of wine. Tell next time!
